It provides the knowledge, skills and abilities required to advise on building fire safety and emergency planning — and to be familiar with all aspects of fire safety in a facility, both in day-to-day matters and during emergencies.

The course covers a broad range of emergencies and facilities as considered in Australian Standard 3745 (Planning for emergencies in facilities) and Australian Standard 4083 (Planning for emergencies — Healthcare facilities), and applies across all industries and contexts.

Participants learn to: understand the role and responsibilities of an FSA; understand legislation relating to fire safety; identify fire safety installations and equipment in a building; develop an awareness of maintenance and records relating to fire safety; develop risk management strategies; implement emergency planning processes; conduct and evaluate evacuation exercises and fire drills; and operate emergency protection and emergency control equipment.
